A Quick Note on "Rolling Stoned"
Always wanted to do this stupid thing one 4th of July…
If I know one thing, it’s that no recap is required when I say that a lot has happened since “Rolling Stoned” sent its first (and only) real issue back on May 15. Sometimes bigger stuff happens and you need to just shut the fuck up.
That’s what I’ve been trying to do. However, many facets of the systemic injustices facing BIPOC today are closely mirrored if not outright propagated by America’s militarized response to drugs and the resulting mass incarceration our nation continues to profit from. In response, it’s time to get this newsletter going again.
A few quick housekeeping notes:
“Rolling Stoned” will now publish every Wednesday at 10 a.m. (Pacific). I thought Fridays would work, but they don’t, and bi-weekly was cute but this industry moves too fast for that to be practical.
In the interest of full transparency, I have submitted this newsletter for consideration in Substack’s Fellowship program. I mention this for two reasons. First, it also factored into my choice to do this thing more frequently. Second, in the extraordinarily unlikely event that “Rolling Stoned” is selected, I just want to reiterate my pledge that there will always be a free option that includes a regular digest of my latest bylines.
Lastly, please, for the love of all that is holy, tip your budtenders. It’s not a question. If you can afford to buy weed right now, you can afford to tip the human being putting their life at risk to make it happen.
